Pros
Pro Well designed battle system that is unique
Instead of the normal static turn based combat Grandia offers a field for battle where much movement takes place. Something that at the time was not seen much.
Pro Fun story
Grandia II's tone is usually lighthearted, which is refreshing as many JRPGs are usually dark and dreary.
Pro Works with controller
Being a port of a console game The Last Remnant works best with a controller as that is what it was originally designed to be played with.
Pro Interesting battle system
The battles in game are group based. The further one gets into the game the more one can recruit to their unions, making bigger and bigger groups.
Cons
Con Shallow skill system
While the skill system is flexible there is not much to dig into here.
Con Lack of depth and intriguing gameplay
At the time of release The Last Remnant was one of the few single player JRPGs released for PC but sadly the story, characters and gameplay falls a bit flat due to just not being that great of a game.
