Pros
Pro Unique experience for every user
The game starts off relatively linearly, but as you progress through the first few areas and gain movement upgrades dozens to hundreds of different paths are opened up to you, allowing you to take completely unique paths as you stumble through the ever-expansive kingdom of Hallownest.
Pro Variable difficulty
Difficulty is not changed by a selection at the start of a playthrough, but is dictated by how the game is played. If a boss is too difficult, it is possible to leave, explore the map, gain health and damage upgrades or movement abilities and "charms", which grant alterations to the player's standard abilities or apply passive buffs. After becoming more powerful, the player can return to the boss they had trouble with and defeat them much more easily. Unfortunately, this effect is much less drastic for the first and last few bosses, but affects most of the game.
Cons
Con Map system
To get a map, you must find an NPC first for each area you visit. Map updates whenever you find a bench. You also get sent to your last-visited bench when you die. It does not update in real-time, but the map will update
with wherever you have been when you find a bench. This is all assuming you have bought the base map from the NPC in that particular area.
