Hey Lachlan, unfortunately this question is not a fit for the Slant format. We prefer "What are the best ___?" type questions where options can be meaningfully compared.

Regarding your question: have you checked Amazon, Best Buy, etc.? Are you looking for a model that supports audio input through 3.5mm, or just looking for a place to buy it?

If you're curious about how Slant works, you can refer to the help page here :-)

Thanks for the feedback Ray. As you can tell I'm quite new to Slant and not familiar with norms around here.

Yes, I'm looking for a unit that supports an audio input through 3.5mm. I've tried most of the major retailers but from what I've found this feature seems to just not exist on current TV models.

Thanks for the update! I've unflagged the question. No worries at all, and welcome to Slant :-)

I looked into it and found this model: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-32-class-31-5-diag--led-1080p-smart-hdtv/4380083.p?skuId=4380083. Would something like that work for you? It supports RCA input, and you could use something like this to split the audio into L/R and hook it up to the TV.

You could probably narrow down your search by looking for TVs with internal speakers, they're usually similar to the one I linked above and the 3.5mm-RCA adapter should do the trick.

Ah, almost. I see what you're implying but I'm trying to replace a Sony KDL-55EX720 at my workplace.

This model has a unique feature where one of the HDMI ports has a 'companion' audio jack. This allows you to connect a PC with DVI via a DVI-HDMI adapter. The extra audio jack is then what is going to supply you with audio from that PC.

I hope that makes sense but there's a picture of it here too. http://helpguide.sony.net/gbmig/ADXW1001/ken/share2011/res_common/i_ptv_Trear_KR_2b3_3a2_p1_p2.full.png it's next to HDMI4.

I know this is a really strange requirement but for our needs it's almost essential. Which is why after hours of online shopping and researching I've come here as a last resort haha

I see what you mean; a TV with this specific requirement is indeed hard to find. I can look into this further, but in the meantime, I think I may have an alternative solution for you.

Can you use a converter? Since HDMI can carry audio, there's no need for that extra hard-to-find audio jack if you can merge the A/V output from the PC: DVI + 3.5mm audio (split into L/R RCA with this adapter) -> this converter -> HDMI cable from the converter to TV.

That should give you both video & audio from PC to any TV with HDMI input.

That should do it exactly! I didn't even think of that alternative. Amazing work Ray, thanks heaps.

Sorry I should probably specify, I require it to be a 3.5mm jack for the audio input. I can't stress enough though that I'm not after an OUTPUT as this is for running an old PC where the audio out of the PC needs to go into this jack.
