Have you checked Deepin 15.8? Starting from Deepin 15.7 it has started to become lighter than before.
First, I had checked the website. It claimed that it is now lighter than Ubuntu.
Then, I checked it by myself. I installed both Ubuntu and Deepin.
From my experience, I can now tell that it is lighter than Ubuntu.

It's not "quite" lightweight if someone looks at RAM consumption, and it's definitely not lighter than Ubuntu unless you shut down all visual effects, which will kill all the beauty.
