I run 3+ OS’s at my desk as I work (Windows 10, MacOS, and 2 Linux (Ubuntu, and Arch). Synergy let’s me seamlessly move my mouse and keyboard across all my monitors, from one to another. Occasionally I had some jitter on Arch. And when I reached out to Symless support they had my back. Turns out I had an older install from the Arch repository that was problematic. A couple of emails later and I’m back up and running smooth as silk between all of my desktops. This team knows their software! And the OS’s it runs on!
I highly recommend Synergy for your kvm over ip.
Hey, thanks for sharing your experience. I hope you don't mind that I edited this to remove first-person phrasing to fit the writing guide.
I don't know when you wrote it, but the only feature missing now is the drag and drop files.
I tried Synergy because my normal KVM software (Multiplicity) is Windows only, and I needed something to bridge across Linux (Mint) to Windows 10. Synergy works very well as far as it goes, but some features are not fully available (like copying files via the clipboard, which I really need). There are more features planned for a future upgrade. Synergy Roadmap. They actually have a 30-day refund, which is very gracious. Since I abandoned Linux Mint, I no longer need Synergy, and I exercised this offer. The refund was immediate. Excellent service.
As bartels wrote, its your network link causing the interruption. I use ethernet cable and never had a interruption. If you are on WLAN you may want to check RF reception
I contacted support and got instant and helpful reply.
I'm a solid fan of this product. Also a solid fan of how this company is up front about issues that have come up during the Synergy 2 release. They owned it, and took it back to the first release to do it right. A tough position to be in, but they were honest about it. I have had to use their support a few times, and both times Sarah was great. I work for a tech company and often help out on the Support Desk, so I appreciate the quick response. So glad Nick kept Sarah on the team during the restructure.
My main concern is that the "restructuring" involved letting all the team members go (save for her). Naturally I am not privy to the internals of the company, so I am optimistic in this decision, however it still leaves me uneasy.

I heartily recommend this product for anyone who needs to manage many apps simultaneously over a variety of OSes I use Synergy 1 Pro on Mac, Windows 7, 10 and Linux. It works seamlessly with all three OSes, including cut/copy and paste between devices. I particularly like the ability to use a custom port and encryption. The only down side is I occasionally need to hunt for my cursor over a span of about three square meters of monitor territory.
This is really helpful. Would you mind adding this as a recommendation (you can do it from the question page)? If you add your experiences it’ll show on the front page, which is where this belongs.
Do the bugs really get in the way of the mouse/keyboard input?

Symless provides priority support for business customers, but actually still provides support for non-business users.
Symless actually provides direct support for Synergy to both regular non-business users and business users.
This seems to be out of date now, or possibly limited to certain people.
Well that is just the worst :|
Is that the case for all copies of Windows 10, or just a seemingly random problem?
Must be random or resolved; I use it every day in Win10 without issues since 2016 or so.
Hey, there's a con that talks about this restarting issue. I'm going to flag this one as a duplicate. Sorry!
That's odd... what version are you using? I've only ever had to install a new version to get my Pi to connect.
This probably doesn't work any more. It hasn't been maintained in a long time.
File drag & drop is out of action for now, and will return soon. Check the roadmap: https://symless.com/synergy/roadmap
Thanks to everyone on Slant who reviewed Synergy. Please us know if you need help with anything. https://symless.com/contact
Do you really enjoy congratulating yourself? :)
Our thank feature mentions users who contributed to the option which sometimes includes the user leaving the comment.
I’m more than happy to respond to any comments, so please let me know if you have any questions.
Hello, thank you for the opportunity to ask about smartphones running the Android OS.
I've ordered a Samsung Galaxy S8+ and expect to add their DeX docking station. I REALLY would like to be able to add the S8+/DeX to my office network - now including one MacBook and one Windows desktop. It appears the Android option is really just for competent programmers, may have been tested on only a few devices, and may be stuck in development never-land.
Are there plans to support Android devices?
Thank you,
Steve
We do have ambitions to release an Android app, but we don’t have any immediate plans. Please let us know if you have any more questions. https://symless.com/contact
Thanks so much for letting us know! I’m so glad you found Synergy easy to use.
Not all features work -- support isn't willing to help the Basic or Pro accounts, unless you pay $$$ for their Enterprise. Find something else.
Sorry you got that impression, this wasn’t our intention. The Synergy Support Team provides direct support for our regular (non-enterprise) customers. However, we do also provide priority support for businesses as an optional extra. Hope this helps to clear things up! If you need help, please contact us. https://symless.com/contact
Synergy 2 works in any direction, there’s no client/server. It’s also fully automated, so it switches seamlessly depending on switch keyboard and mouse you use. Please let us know if there’s anything we can do to help you. https://symless.com/contact
But should an individual technical issue be counted a general con? Wouldn't you agree, that the software would be totally pointless if the reported issue would be of a general nature (which it of course isn't)?
I agree that the con sounds anecdotal, and it can definitely be challenged or commented on, and if other users don't agree, they can always express that by downvoting a con or even marking it out-of-date, or something. However, my point was more about the structure of information on the site - it doesn't make sense when the con title says one, and the details state something contradictory.
Huh? Of course a technical issue is a con...
Installed and got "Wow!" immediately. Zero configuration is "shut up and take my money!" feature. As soon as installed on second computer it just works across both of them. I can't notice any delay at all, mouse is just like native. I even had to double check that mouse is actually connected to the other computer - it's that good.
Please check the troubleshooting tips at http://manual.keyboard-and-mouse-sharing.com#ts or contact http://support.keyboard-and-mouse-sharing.com
It is a false statement. The trial version allows to try out everything before making a purchase.
You can try everything with the free trial version. If the trial expires, just restart the ShareMouse clients for another trial. Please give it a 2nd shot: http://download.keyboard-and-mouse-sharing.com
Comment from user BartelsMedia:
Sorry to hear that. It is quite likely a minor network connection hiccup. Please try our troubleshooting tips at http://manual.keyboard-and-mouse-sharing.com#ts
ShareMouse depends on a local network connection. Please check our troubleshoot tips to resolve network issues: http://manual.keyboard-and-mouse-sharing.com#ts or contact support at http://support.keyboard-and-mouse-sharing.com
There is no way to try out the advance features and too many features are "advanced" :(
Hey! I'll add that to the con, good info. Thanks!
We wonder why you make such statement, as you can try everything with the free trial version. If the trial expires, just restart the ShareMouse clients for another trial. Please give it a 2nd shot: http://download.keyboard-and-mouse-sharing.com
jEdit is a programming editor, and is not related to the topic.
Hey! Do you know if that's a general issue or just something you've experienced?
I'm conflicted on whether this should be a valid option. QuickSynergy isn't the virtual KVM software, but rather a GUI to configure Synergy2, which is the actual virtual KVM application.
Thanks for pointing that out. I don't think it should especially since Synergy is already in this question, so I'm going to go ahead and flag this.
Hey, sorry that I deleted the description but copy/paste content from other sites is against Slant writing guide
Hey! I'm flagging the pro, since it's not a pro. What's wrong with the product by the way? You can add cons to mention what's missing etc.
or you can just get the source code builds that are only a point release or two behind posted up on sourceforge.
So we could mark it as out of date? I edited back the original con details so as not to cause confusion (when the title says one thing and the details are debunking said thing), but you can pull it from the History (3 dots to the right of the agree/disagree buttons) to put in a comment.
mhm, my experience is those that don't offer a free trial period for their consumer software know that it does not operate smoothly for many people = avoid at all costs
Still waiting for a free trial, seriously, expecting people to pay before even being able to determine if it is going to work ok on their systems, very bad service & mindset, seems I will put up with mwb for a while yet, I'd be quite happy to pay for the pro version if I first knew it performed better than mwb, which wouldn't be hard.
Worked with 2x win 10 and Kali on atom processor for me
Hey! Thanks for your input. I edited the Con a bit for better readability and to modify the first person viewpoint as detailed in Slant's writing guide. I hope this is okay with you and that your original thoughts are still preserved :)
You can download the free and open source GPL
Synergy Core here on GitHub: https://github.com/symless/synergy-core
Do you have a free version yet, or at least a timed trial. I need to test whether it support two screens running an RDS session and the other two a normal PC. I have tried ShareMouse, it allows the mouse to move out of the RDS session, but the keyboard doesn't work. I need to minimize my session then the keyb works.
But monitor positions can be swapped, for example if there is another laptop to the left of the main screen it can be placed left of the main system.
Well if they have a bug like that, until it gets fixed, it's a good idea to leave the con as it is. Someone who's planning to connect two Windows 10 systems, won't have to bother getting Synergy for now. We can flag it once they fix the bug.
If you flip this around it could be listed as a pro. this is a paid (but still libre) software that allows you to build it for free (gratis). A lot of open source software doesn't even provide binaries for every minor or hotfix release. Software isn't free to develop and support, and although the open source community is better about donating to good software, the mainstream community isn't. IMO selling binaries is an amazing way to support open source software popular in mainstream communities.
Of course, this can also be looked as a pro as well. Feel free to add it as a pro if you wish :)
Ya but...two computers with two computers is supposed to be free, but they shut it off periodically forcing you to restart. Really not functional unless you buy.
Do they give you a notification of some sorts when/why they shut it off?
Well there are other apps that will let BT keyboards talk to iOS. Maybe an app merge will happen?
This works way better than I ever expected and it's all automatic. I just select the right HDMI port on my 40" UHD Smart Tv and the right computer comes up ready to run, it's that simple. I have my main Windows 10 for development work and a mini-pc with Windows 7 just for avoiding malware online while I am earning extra money.
Comment by @JaySala: "Used for several years, but it stopped working, and now can't even get it to download again even after uninstalling it."
No problem. Just getting my thoughts straight. Didn't even realise they were going to get listed like they are...
Input Director was resurrected in 2016. I use it under Windows 7 - free - and it is perfect.

We're working on a fix for this, and it should be available soon. Thanks for your patience.
Hey, thanks for contributing to Slant! Unfortunately I had to edit this pro a bit since it was in first person, which we are trying to avoid when it comes to pros or cons.
I would strongly advise AGAINST purchasing Synergy. I have a 4-PC system, all sharing a single 40" monitor and the software is JUNK. It only recognizes one of the three "client" PCs. They claim they are trying to hire software developers to iron out the issues. They should NOT be selling this junkware until it actually works.
Did you try to contact them and try to fix your issues?
Free and standard allow maximum two computers and maximum two monitors. I have two monitors on one computer and one on the other and this is not allowed.
I edited the pro to add that in, feel free to make any edits. Thanks for bringing that up!
double post - initial one did not show until this one was submitted.
Hey, thanks for contributing to Slant! Unfortunately I had to edit this con since we are trying to avoid first-person statements in pros and cons because it may make it harder for other users to improve existing pros/cons.
Comment from @XtraSimplicity:
FWIW, I'm using a Nightly build (https://symless.com/files/nightly/synergy-master-stable-a6ff907-MacOSX1011-x86_64.dmg) as I couldn't get the compilation to work on macOS Sierra (10.12), and I can't justify spending $10 - 30 USD on an app that does not otherwise offer a trial.
As long as you do not have a total of more than 2 monitors!
Is the free tier for two monitors or two computers?
Comment from @Shane
No longer a con - Input Director v1.4 was released in August
Hey there Shane,
Thanks for updating this con! When you see pros/cons that are out of date, feel free to click the More-button (three dots) next to the pro/con to mark it as out of date. That'll be easier than adjusting the con manually. :)
That link points on how to install it on iOS. How about Android? This "pro" also claims "modded Android devices".
Third link: http://sourceforge.net/projects/synergyandroid/ :)
I'm not sure about the modding bit. I guess since there are multiple ways of getting access to /dev/uinput you just need to check if your mod of choice allows it.
Multiplicity KM provides support for seamless control of up to 9 PCs with one keyboard and mouse. All capabilities for seamless connections are available including copy/paste data transfer. Other capabilities not included are related to the integrated IP-KVM / Remote Desktop capabilities in the Multiplicity KVM versions.
