I'm not sure how these two are different. With enough options and user voting, the Slant algorithm will eventually come up with the single best game in the already existing Wii U question.
Eventually, it would end up looking something like this.

Asking "What is the best game" and "What are the best games" is going to lead to the same result. It's not a matter of grammar, it's just asking the same question in two different ways.
The reason why the question I linked above is not showing 'the best' game yet is because not enough users have voted and contributed for the Slant algorithm to decide on the best option.
