The question's a bit broad. It'll be difficult to compare options against one another. Do you by any chance have specific functionality you're looking for, stuff that you want solved?

I would say it's no less broad than http://www.slant.co/topics/1099/~chrome-add-ons. I'm just looking to see what add-ons people like to use, and allow the community to put pros/cons on these. I could perhaps re-phrase the question to "what are your favourite add-ons for Firefox".

Yup, the example you gave is just as broad.

Really, we need a better way of addressing this usecase. Slant's format works best when you can compare options directly and that means scoping things down, but there needs to be a way of getting a general sense of a topic before things can be scoped down and we're doing a bad job of addressing that need.

One idea going forward is to replace the broad questions with tags. So you would have #firefox + #add-ons and underneath it have questions for ad blocking, twitter, ftp, etc addons. Thoughts?

Actually, I quite like this idea. With tags like those, it would be possible to automatically associate options from other questions to new ones being asked. So if you wanted to find Firefox Add-ons for Productivity, you could look at #Firefox #Add-ons #productivity or something like that.

Exactly. New nav is currently being designed and that includes addressing this situation better. We've been doing a lot of groundwork the last year and, now, Feb/March should be the time when we start releasing bigger site improvements and continue releasing stuff throughout the year that should improve the quality of life and content on the site. Nav should land in April, hopefully.

Adding this as an add-on, since this is going to be removed from the standard features of Firefox come version 45.
