It's ridiculous how hard these things are to make,. and the price reflects it,. generally the good ones can get quite pricy.

I've had a few in Paris,. they were great,. but, not 4 euros a piece kind of great.

Oh totally agree, would say its more a special treat kind of thing more than an everyday thing due to the price.

Would they just bag them up at least for free, no box?

Yea, you get it in a plastic bag if it's less than 4 or 5, a plain box if it's more. Most macaron shops give you a nice box, as in they don't differentiate between normal and gift boxes. Laduree does it to make bank off their brand :P

Ah gotcha, would be nice to get the nice box without a cost but at least they don't force the purchase and offer some kind of container.
