Specs
Pros
Pro Tons of new gear
New weapons are added to the game such as the Tesla Rifle. New armor is to be found as well like the Tesla Power Armor. There are also new collectible figures as well added to the game. This all extends the gameplay and adds a ton of new things to go searching for, for the completionists.
Pro Adds new challenge
Facing off against all the new enemies added through this DLC can be tough and are some of the hardest enemies in the game, especially the boss at the end of this campaign. That means players will need to level up quite a bit and practice taking down robots quickly, which definitely extends the gameplay as well as the challenge of the game, even for veterans of the series.
Pro Tons of new robotic enemies
There is actually quite a vast array of new enemies in the form of robots added to the game through this new DLC that makes for a good bit of differentiation and originality while out on your quest. Being able to not know what you might run into next for a game that is already month old is refreshing and an appreciated feature.
Pro You get to build your own robot companion
This new paid DLC will add a function that will allow the player to build and customize their own robot to use in the game. This will be done through defeating other robots (also newly added through this DLC) and collecting their parts. This is a mechanic not found in any Fallout game to date and should provide an interesting way to play the game.
Cons
Con New robot building requires a huge investment in skills
Skills in the game are limited, while most likely extended with this DLC thanks to the new mission, the investment in skills to build a robot as one would like (meaning no roadblocks of undeveloped skills) is quite high and will take a lot of time. This of course may not appeal to everyone, as with any new content people would just like to jump in over spending hours and hours doing mundane tasks in order for a pay out.
Con No extended map
The Automatron DLC will not be extending to new locales as it is more focused on story, items and mechanics. There will be two new dungeons, which is at least something new to explore, but there will be no new maps or zones that actually extend the games current map beyond the original borders.
