So this is not an area I'm really familiar with, so I'm fishing for ideas as much as anything, but some thoughts:
- "Real" programming language. I've seen of kids robots that could be a bit of fun to play with, but require you to use scratch 2.0 (http://wiki.scratch.mit.edu/wiki/Scratch_2.0) . I'm not picky about language, but I'd prefer something a bit more sophisticated.
- Wireless, either WiFi or Bluetooth. I'd like to see how well I can get this thing roaming the area, I'd rather not limit it to the length of my USB cable
- In line with roaming some kind of decent proximity detection.
In terms of price, I'd say sub 1-$200 probably classifies though if it was really cool I might go over that.
Again it's not an area I know much about so if you know of something cool that doesn't tick those boxes I'd love to hear about it. What got me looking at this is I discovered that my library has a Finch robot (http://www.finchrobot.com/) available for checkout, which I'll be placing a hold on :-). I should probably throw that up as an options actually.
I edited the question to add in "under $200", just to narrow down the answers you get.
Unfortunately it's not my area either, but I'll bring this question to the attention of a few people who might know more. It's something I've been curious about myself lately, so I'm really looking forward to the responses.
Hey, neat question! Are you looking for any specific features? What price do you want to stay under?
