Hey Nicholas,

Thanks for asking this question! Definitely interesting, and it's also quite remarkable that unlike games, DRM-free movie stores are really uncommon. So just for clarification, you're not looking for services such as the PlayStation Store, Xbox Marketplace, Google Play and iTunes, but a service/platform where you can freely pay for movies and download them anywhere you want?

Actually I lack experience with any such service, as I usually go to theaters, but on rare occasions I want to watch an older or foreign movie on my computer (Linux Ubuntu).

So having looked into this, there are very few choices for such a thing. There is some content that is extremely old out there that is public domain, but sadly copyright seems to keep getting extended where things that should have been in the public domain years ago, never gets there. There are a few edge cases where comedians such as Louis CK create and release their own comedy specials, sold on their own sites, DRM free. Sadly there is no store collecting these in one place though, so you will have to search them out individually. Really it would be interesting to see a store that sells independent films of some sort DRM free, something like GOG, but for movies instead of games.
