Ranked in these QuestionsQuestion Ranking
Pro Produces great, powerful bass and fairly detailed highs
The sound signature of the Hyper X Cloud II is fun, with boosted bass and highs, while the mids are slightly recessed. This results in game or movie sound effects getting a lot of detail and oomph. However, dialogue and more midrange-centric sounds may sound a bit softer in comparison.
Pro Solid build thanks to the use of good quality materials
Despite being a relatively affordable gaming headset, the build quality is pretty good. The build is primarily plastic, but the types of plastic chosen look and feel great and do not make creaks easily. The yoke and the headband adjustment are made of brushed aluminum which definitely adds a premium look and a welcome amount of heft to the headset.
The wires are sleeved, which also makes them look and feel more premium compared to just the bare wires.
Pro Advanced audio control box
Surround sound as well as volume controls can be toggled with the touch of a button.
Pro Headphones are comfortable to wear as the ear pads and headband are amply padded
The ear pads as well as the head band feature thick foam material, which makes the headset feel really soft on the ears and head. This makes them quite comfortable even when used on long gaming sessions.
Pro Supports noise & echo cancelling
Pro Included accessories
The headset comes with its own carrying bag, extra ear cups and an optional 7.1 USB sound card.
Pro Boom mic is convenient to use as it is flexible and also detachable
This headset's microphone is quite convenient to use. First off, it is detachable so if you do not need to use the mic, you can simply remove it from the left ear cup. With the microphone on however, you can also choose to swivel the mic to various directions or positions as the mic is flexible and bendable.
Pro Enhanced soundstage and audio imaging can be achieved by using this headset's 7.1 surround sound option
This headset's included dongle features a button to enable virtual 7.1 surround sound. This gives the headset's sound a much wider sound stage, with enhanced positional audio. This should help make it much easier for you to identify and determine where objects or other players are in the game world based on sound.
Pro Closed back design minimizes sound leakage
The headset's ear cups feature a closed design, which means that only very little sound can leak out of them. Also, this means that outside noise will be blocked when using this headset, and can help users focus better when gaming.
Pro Versatile in terms of sound source compatibility as this headset can be connected via 3.5mm jack or USB
The headset itself comes with a 3.5mm fixed cable which should work with a lot of audio capable devices. Also, it comes with a headphone dongle that features a 3.5mm female port to USB. This allows the headset to be used with most computers and devices which only feature USB as I/O,
Pro Users will have some options in terms of ear pad comfort, as this headset comes with 2 pairs of pads
With this headset, it is possible for users to swap in the ear pads that they want to use. Aside from the pads being easily removable, users also get a pair of velour ear pads along with the attached pair of faux leather ear pads. Not only does this give users a backup pair of ear pads, but this also gives the option of which ones to choose according to comfort preferences.
Pro Users can get extra functionality from the included USB dongle
If you decide to connect the headset to the USB dongle, then you will gain access to essential features and extra control options. On the dongle is the button to toggle 7.1 surround sound on or off and also features volume adjustments for the headphones and mic, along with a mute button.
Con Short 3.5mm cable
The cable of the HyperX II is split up in two parts. The headset itself has a 43 inch (110 cm) cable, which can be a little bit on the short side depending on where your audio-ports are located. If you use the full length of the headset with a USB-port, the full length equals to around 10 feet (305 cm).
Con Headset cable is fixed/non-removable
The 3.5mm cable on the headset is non removable so should it get damaged, it will be very hard to replace, and may involve RMA or extensive DIY repairs. This also means that the headset is not ideal for mobile use as you will have to deal with the cable when traveling.
Con Feels tight on the head
The ear cups provide a lot of pressure which makes the headset feel tight on your head and can cause discomfort when using the HyperX Cloud II in longer sessions.
