Elementary OS has a consistent visual language, and a growing set of third party apps that were designed specifically for elementary. It runs great, even on older hardware.
Since Fedora is released every 6 months, it's mate spin will be to providing a fast new mate version each time, people often call Fedora "Bleeding Edge" so I'm sure this will be!

Works very well for touch with Elementary OS Loki. Unfortunately, Loki doesn't handle suspend/recover very well with my X220 so I have recently switched back to Gnome3/Ubuntu. Definitely not as polished, but Gnome3 is way more customizeable.
