Pros
Pro Decent image quality
For the price, it is a good option if you’re looking for a small camera that can record videos at 1080p 60fps (frames per second) in any well lit environment. Even if the frame rate on higher resolutions is not so good, you can still take much sharper photos or make time-lapses.
Pro Waterproof without a case
It’s a rare sight to see an action camera at this price point that is waterproof without a case. Not only will it be protected from the rain, it can also go as deep as 33 ft / 10m underwater, so this is a good option if you’re getting a budget action camera to record while swimming, surfing etc.
Cons
Con No video stabilization
It might not be a big deal to you, depending on what you plan on using this camera for, but one of the major downsides is exactly this, there is no video stabilization. If you attach this camera to a bike and ride it on a bumpy path, the resulting video will probably not be something pleasant to look at. You can find an image stabilization option in the settings, but that is only for taking photos.
Con Not a great dashcam option
While it's nice to have the camera be waterproof without a case, the Akaso Brave 5 has made some sacrifices. One of those is not having a separate cover for the micro USB port, which is hidden under the same cover as the battery and memory card, making it hard to use since the battery could just fall out with some vibration, harsh movement being present.
