Though real money can be spent to unlock weapons, almost everything in the game can be bought with in game currency meaning you don't have to pay anything to enjoy all of Blacklight.

While Blacklight: Retribution may be a good shooter, it makes sure to add features that distinguish it from the pack. Blacklight features a few unique additions to change up gameplay while still keeping to the cyberpunk theme.

First off, Blacklight features a mech unlockable via killstreaks that can change the tide of the match. While still being a powerful gamechanger it manages to not be unfair by being easily defeatable by a well organized team.

Another major, unique feature is the HRV(Hyper-Reality Visor), which is part of every players equipment. It can be enabled for a short time which allows the player to see all players and equipment on the map. This allows for more advanced strategies to be a developed but doesn't feel like cheating because everyone has it as well as disabling shooting while it is activated.

Though it is a shooter focused game, Blacklight: Retribution allows a large amount of customization. Whether its selecting armor, which changes both appearence and stats, to endless tweaking of weapons with a wide variety of upgrades, Blacklight allows you to find your perfect balance for any play style.
