Pros
Cons
Con Third party libraries can be limited
Community is not yet fully mature meaning some fairly basic libraries are either not ready or require significant effort to get up and running. This can be mitigated by using JavaScript libraries in some cases, you often lose benefits of the Elixir base when doing this.
Con Connection handling speed isn't everything
While the erlang base -- the fact it's based on a derivation of a language written for a telecommunications network -- allows it to handle connections well, this isn't everything. As there are not yet any large-scale apps using Phoenix it is unclear how things like database management will fare at enterprise level. Not necessarily a criticism, but one to watch. Though Dischord either does or did previous use Elixir for at least part of its codebase.
