Although a small 'con': Userforum is mainly in Spanish which need an intermediate translation step for non-Spanish speaking users. The forum is divided in Spanish and English help. But the Spanish "side" is much more active. Also, the SourceFourge discussion platform is not very user-friendly when it comes to looking up for a topic. Googling with the word "Openxava" in the search gives mostly more accurate answers than the OX-SourceForge platform. But again, this is a minor issue. See More
I have started experiencing with a quite small application for Purchasing Requests, integrated with SAP and Google Business Suite. The app is running smoothly since more than a year. Quite fast to learn, things gets a little more complex as you try to rise the bar. Excellent support also for the free version, from a lot of tutorials and references and the onlin forums. See More
I use OX since 2012. It's very robust and stable. The underlying technologies (Spring, Hibernate, JPA,...) have made their mark for a long time. OX is supported well due to the help forum, not at least because the people behind OX participate, so you get first hand support. As OX is a plain Java application you can integrate easily other technologies like REST or Javascript. You can rework the standard behaviour of OX if needed. After a few years working with the free version I opted for the payed version OpenXavaPro which adds access security on a fine grained level. Again because it's made with solid technologies, you can use all sorts of containers. I use Tomcat but many others are also supported. Even so for databases. I use MySql, but a vast range of other databases are proofed the work well with OX(Pro). Overall, I can recommend Openxava(Pro) if your use case is to make a robust application with as little effort as possible. Like me, you can start with a simple application with small needs and you can expand it over the years to even very complex use cases. Not unimportant: I started more than 10 years ago and OX evolved with my needs. Minor updates come at a reasonable pace and bigger upgrades come, I think, every two year with functional improvements, but also etsthetic enhancements. After all, you can adapt the look and feel with themes and if you don't feel happy with the build-in ones, you can also make your own. See More
