Mobile (Android, iOS) players are all playing together with desktop PC players, which means during dog fighting sequences the PC players have much finer grained controls over their mobile player opponents. This makes for unfair matching that can lead to mobile players loosing out more often than not if they are facing a PC player. Throughout the game players are able to build up relationships with other players through alliances. The alliances can be used for help during the games such as asking for aid. There is also no limit to how much one can help other players, and in doing so makes for a game where much of it is social where joining an alliance can exponentially reward the player. See More
The whole design of the game was created around having the player come back to the game. Only through making a better and better base and units can one succeed and only through coming back to the game over and over again to upgrade these areas can one do that. It is the promise of success if you just do one more thing, and another, and another that creates the sense that at some point can the player really be "winning", which to many is a very fun feeling. The game is heavily designed to get you to start paying for things by creating slow moving gameplay with wait timers and overpriced items. Only when players pay real money can the realistically move the gameplay along at an acceptable pace of that found in most paid upfront games. See More
For those looking for a casual game to play at a slow pace in small chunk Clash of Clans has gameplay that fits that scenario quite well. Players slowly build up their base into a fortress by creating building to contain within as well as walls to surround it. This all happens over time and can not be immediately done so is a game focused on being played throughout a day in small pieces over many months to years. Slowly but surely the time invested will lead to creating a large base that can take on other large opponents. See More
The player collects monsters that can be placed on islands, where in different islands can be purchased and used to store monsters. The monsters on those islands sing, which effects the tone of the background song. Each monster can be muted individually, which then can change the tone of the song depending on which monsters are muted. While not a main gameplay mechanic or anything the way a player can effect each islands music is an entertaining and fun component. See More
The game is consistently upgraded, so even for people that rush through the game and collect all the available monsters (which is pretty time consuming to do) the devs add in more content in a consistent manner that adds even more monsters and islands to collect. Basically it is an ever expanding game. See More
Even when a player is not logged into the game there is a chance that someone may attack and destroy your base. Things are happening in the world of the game even when not using it, which is not only an incentive to check into the game often and build up ones defenses but also a reason to check in to see if anything has happened. It makes for an addictive cycle of gameplay. See More
Was introduced to this game after my boyfriend thought getting me hooked was the best way to max his own playtime. He was right. It's a game I would have expected to have a lot of grinding but it's not that way at all. Progress is achievable while still giving a good challenge, and upgrading equipment changes things enough that it always stays fairly new/interesting. See More
While a casual game some people may find the mechanics confusing. Luckily the game provides a pretty good tutorial that explains how to play by having the player perform the functions needed in the game before really starting to play, all while being explained by the game before the actions takes place. Much like other free-to-play base building games, Star Wars: Commander features gameplay where the player is tasked with slowly building up their base while also building defenses and an army. It is through playing the game in small increments that one can do this (unless they pay real money to unlock the timers or purchase more resources) as there are timers and limited resources. This makes for a game that one can pay in bits throughout the day to slowly become more and more powerful. See More
