The companion app allows you to control the Anova by setting time and temperature manually or by selecting recipes. The problem is that the wifi frequently disconnects, touch targets to set time and temperature often don't work, and the app is completely unusable if it is not connected to the Anova. Not being able to use the app unless the Anova is connected makes it difficult to check times when deciding on recipes on the fly or checking cooking times when preparing a meal. See More
The Anova is the best kitchen gadget that I've ever purchased. It changed the way I eat. Meal prepping has always been a pain, which makes it difficult to do for long periods of time. Not with the Anova. Every week I make 10lbs of chicken, scrambled eggs (amazing), steak, salmon, and an assortment of other recipes. This sous vide makes everything come out perfectly. Also, the customer service is top-notch. I had the clamp crumb on me about a year after I purchased it. After one email, they had a new one sent over to me for free. If you're thinking about getting a straightforward sous vide machine, just get this one. See More
