Pros
Pro Performance is solid
The i5 model offers good performance, but the i7 is the model to choose for processor intensive tasks. The i7 outperforms the Dell XPS 13 and Toshiba KIRA, albeit by a small margin. It outperforms the Macbook Air 2014 by nearly 20%.
Apple uses PCIe SSDs, making their data transfer speeds incredibly high for non-4K content.
Gaming performance isn't great as expected from Intel HD 5000 Graphics. Even at medium settings, games dip below 30FPS.
Cons
Con Below average display
Apple used a TN panel here, which provides worse viewing angles as opposed to IPS panels. The resolution is also low for such a high price - it is only 1440x900. The display does get bright (310 cd/m²), however the contrast ratio is below average (812:1) and the black level (0.405 cd/m²) is a bit too high. With calibration, the display can be very accurate. Color coverage is lackluster - scoring 60% on sRGB and 38% on AdobeRGB and should not be used for accurate color editing in photoshop or video editing.
