Scrivener is a robust app, so if you if want to really make use of what it can do, you'll have to spend a little time learning about all of its features. If you want a low powered, incredibly simple tool, this is probably not for you. You'll be able to find a lot of them on youtube.com, and there are also videos on the Literature and Latte site. It works great! And works seamlessly with OneDrive, so I get at least SOME of the advantages a cloud environment. All these "Authorship" software titles seem to use the same Hierarchical database model, so they all pretty much work the same way, and all pretty much do the same thing. This is a FREE software title that is under current and active support. Many of the other free titles are either abandonware, or otherwise not under active development. See More

You can quickly and easily see how many lines each character has, as well as what scenes they are in. This makes equalizing the rolls of each much easier, which will help you balance your scenes so your story isn't too heavy on one plot line (or at least it will help you notice if one plotline is much longer than another).
