Pro Always be able to roll back to the version that you want, you'll never end up with a broken system
Nix never overwrites files, but just adds new versions in different paths.
And since nothing is overwritten, the old versions are still there after an upgrade. This means that you can quickly roll back to the old version.

Con On NixOS, you're kinda stuck with what it gives you - Bash, gcc, libc and systemd are a given
You can try replace them, but that will only bring out a world of hurt.

Out of Date Pros + Cons
Con Uses a text-based installer
NixOS at the moment lacks a nice, user-friendly graphical installer. Therefore this form of installation may not be suitable for novice Linux users.
