For 99% of users, installing this email client on macOS is far too complicated to even waste the time reading the rest of this review. Only try this if the following, from the Claws website, makes sense to you: Installing Claws Mail will require X.org, GTK+ 2.6, and a working POSIX building environment (including the gcc/make toolchain). Let's consider using Fink to install the software requirements on your Mac OS X system. Install Fink (http://www.finkproject.org/). Download and unpack the Claws Mail sources. Run ./configure --prefix=/sw to quickly see what packages are missing, and install them using Fink (fink or FinkCommander). Some of the required packages are available in unstable only, so you might need to enable unstable packages in the Fink prefs, then do fink selfupdate scanpackages. You'll need a complete gcc/make toolchain as well as few extra requirements See More

Very solid and configurable email client. For a couple years I had been using Mailspring, but there were a few key annoyances that were severe enough I finally left (see my review of that software for the details). Short summary: 1) The "unread" folder kept desyncing and showing read emails. 2) When I connected more than 3 accounts, it would have syncing errors. 3) The HTML/WYSIWYG editor was glitchy. Since it's been so long without those core issues being fixed, I finally decided to try switching to Thunderbird. So far I'm liking it a lot: 1) It's pretty readable/compact. 2) It's highly configurable. 3) It has addons. 4) And best of all, it actually syncs my multiple email addresses without erroring! If Mailspring fixes those issues, I may do a closer comparison. But for now, reliability wins out! See More

For a couple years I have been using Mailspring, but there are a few key annoyances that have been severe enough that I've finally switched (as of today) to Mozilla Thunderbird. The main issues: 1) The "unread" status of emails gets desynced frequently; thus, the "unread" section keeps getting cluttered with tons of messages that have in fact been read! 2) Keeps having issues syncing mail for two of my Gmail accounts! (even after attempted re-sign-in) I suspect the Mailspring client just cannot handle more than 3 accounts without getting unstable. (the two that have issues are the two most recently added) 3) The HTML/WYSIWYG editor is not completely reliable; sometimes when I press enter, the editor shows two line-breaks (ie. one empty line in between paragraphs), but then, only after sending, I see that the double-line-breaks has been simplified to a single line-break! (which means the paragraphs have no space between them anymore, disrupting readability!) For over a year, I had been holding out hope that the tickets/entries raised for these issues would get fixed (the first one at least, since that was the most annoying). But there has been no movement by the developers on any of them, as far as I can tell. And I think I partly know why: there used to be several core/frequent developers, but now there is only one or two, and they seem to have other features on their minds. (I guess new features are more important than bug fixes) If the three issues above end up getting fixed someday, I will consider going back to Mailspring (for its better aesthetics, easier development on Github and Electron, etc.). But for now, reliability wins out! See More

It was helpful for me when I was searching for a job, 'read receipts function' helped to sort companies, move on, or wait for a letter from employer for 1 or 2 days more. UI is ok and hope they will add auto theme change. At this moment, the application looks abandoned, but they watching comments on GitHub, even if they are slow in developing, they promise to fix bugs! See More
