Steel plate gives the keyboard a better feel on keystroke, therefore more solid and a better "thock" than HHKB. I have both. I have put HHKB key caps on the letters and numbers but there is a significant difference between the two. I prefer Leopold.

This is my primary work and home keyboard. I love it. I normally don't like microsoft products but the keyboard is lovely and cheap. Sure I would love it if they make the exact same thing with cherry mechanical switches, but until they do. This is my go to for comfort and day long use.
