Pros
Pro Great performance
The Asus ROG Strix GeForce RTX 2080 Overclocked 8G is a very powerful card, great for 4K gaming. It also compares well to other models in the series.
The 3DMark Time Spy test is a general test for graphics cards' performance. According to guru3d's tests, the card scored 10671 points. It is only beaten by the RTX 2080 Ti cards.
It runs Rise of the Tomb Raider in 4K and at very high game settings at 61 fps. Far Cry 5 runs at 57 fps, under the same assumptions, while Battlefield 1 runs at 83 fps.
When gaming on a Full HD screen(1080p), the card runs Rise of the Tomb Raider at 174 fps, Far Cry 5 at 118 fps and Battlefield 1 at 195 fps.
For many games, the card manages to add a few extra fps, compared to the reference card. This is one of the best performing RTX 2080 cards on the market.
Pro A very cool card
The Asus ROG Strix GeForce RTX 2080 Overclocked 8G has a great cooling system, resulting in surprisingly low temperatures.
When idling with the cooling system working, the cards temperatures reaches 30 degrees Celsius. When gaming with with the fans working at full speed, the temperatures reach 58 degrees.
When fans are working in silent mode, the idle temperatures reach 35 degrees. While gaming, the same temperatures reach 72 degrees.
The card is one of the coolest ones out there for this level of performance. The temperatures are low enough so you shouldn't experience any heat-related issues like throttling.
Pro Very quiet
The card is surprisingly quiet, taking into consideration its power and the three fans it uses to cool itself down.
According to guru3d's tests, when idling, the cards noise levels reach 29 dba. This makes it one of the quietest cards out there for idling.
When gaming, the noise levels reach 38 dba, again beating most of the graphics cards out there. In silent mode, the noise levels go as low as 32 dba under load, but this may increase the temperatures of the card.
The card is extremely silent. The noise levels when gaming are comparable to the noise levels in a livingroom. You may hear that the fans are there, but they will most likely not disturb you.
