Pros
Pro The gameplay formula changes again for the better.
This game takes a proper departure from the usual Five Night's at Freddy's staples. The usual formula consists of the player keeping creatures at bay for a certain amount of time until the sun finally rises, but this iteration sees the player completing menial tasks while keeping those creatures at bay. The pace of the game is dictated by the player rather than the game itself.
Pro It finishes telling the story the game started out with.
The game in question is the sixth and possibly final installment in the series, so it takes the time to tie up loose ends. Once the player has fully played through a vanilla run of the game, most of the questions that have lingered on since the beginning finally come together. For fans since the beginning, this serves as a proper conclusion to the story of Five Night's at Freddy's.
Pro The difficulty shifts based on player performance.
The difficulty of this game can change based on how the game is played. This is determined by two factors: Risk and Salvaging. Risk is the amount of danger your items hold when you put them in your pizzeria. The higher the risk, the more activity you encounter during your night. Salvaging is the action of taking in an animatronic for salvage. You can opt to risk salvaging them and take them into your restaurant with the idea that they will try to kill you after, or you can deny the salvage and forfeit your payment for the sake of lowering the amount of creatures that hunt you at night. By either lowering your amount of Risk or denying Salvages, the player can lower the difficulty.
Cons
Con The full set of lore is hidden through forced replayability.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
The lore is revealed both through multiple endings of the game and the mini-games that the player can buy throughout the 'Building' portion of the game. These mini-games can be bought with money, which can only be amassed by gathering revenue, taking sponsorship deals, or playing other mini-games. The player only receives ten 'tokens' per day to play these games, meaning the player only gets a limited amount of chances to discover the lore. In one particular case, the 'Candy Cadet' relies on RNG to tell the story players try to pursue. This results in players throwing tokens at it in hopes of getting a result. This forces the player to replay the game multiple times to discover all the information the game has to offer.
Con Getting all the endings requires a lot of replaying.
This game has a grand total of six endings and each of them are important in their own away. They reward the player for playing in a certain away. They can be unlocked through various methods, such as playing without utilizing the pizzeria building mode or going bankrupt due to paying out too much for lawsuits. This also means a player has to play through the vanilla game six times to gain all endings the game has to provide.
Con The purposeful obscurity of the game harms newcomers to the series.
The name and initial Steam footage of the game betrays what the game actually is. What seems like a standalone spin off is actually the sixth installment of a long ongoing series. While this is common of the author, anyone coming into the series will be horrible confused ten minutes in, and it only serves to detriment the first experience.
