I used the teppy in several cities in Mexico on the 3 g network. My biggest complaint was that the battery ran out each day long before I returned to my hotel. Who knew I needed an extra battery pack to make it more than 4 or 5 hours? Customer service said this was normal. See More
Tep Wireless uses Teppy, a very portable (4.2 x 2.3 x 0.5 inches) handheld WiFi emissor that has front display showing signal strength and battery life (maximum of 8 hours in use and 20 hours in standby mode). You can also use it to keep track of data consumption. See More
A quick browse through international travel forums show that people have had occasional issues with customer support. This blog post covers one travelers particularly bad experience with the company earlier in 2013. It should be noted though that the majority of consumer reviews are positive. See More
Tep claims to provide a download speed of around 7.2 Mbps while in 3G areas, with 5.8 Mbps of upload speed. During Engadget's review, the specification speeds where achieved in real world usage. That said, speeds are very dependent on the particular country and geographic area you're in. See More
Hired MyWebSpot for 9 days whilst in France staying in Normandy. The device did not work, was unable to contact customer services via the phone. The phone message told me to send an email (which I could not do as no wifi). No refund, no contact with anyone. Almost wanted to keep the device to see if they would contact me! Will not be using again! See More
Alicia Panday's Experience
MyWebspot has a limit of 5GB of data per day in 4G, before the connections speed is hindered to a maximum of 256kb/s. Compared to other pocket WiFi providers, this is a high limit before reaching speed throttle level. See More
The WI-FI can have some issues where it won't work despite being in a city, there are no reception issues, even within the first 5GB of use. Sometimes you can get it to work but only for a few minutes. Even after getting it to work after you've used your first 5GB the speed will drop down to 256kbps making it quite painful to browse internet, because many times webpages will time out while trying to load at that speed. After having great service/reception in France (in Perigord region) the 2 previous years, last summer I had little to no service, it was practically useless. I'm fairly certain that I was given an older device as well, but I don't want an unreliable service. Also 3 years in a row, we had delivery problems - it was being shipped to our niece's house just outside Paris, so shouldn't have been complicated. I'm now going to try another service. For 20+ days, I pay a lot, but would pay more to have reliable service. Our family's French cell phones and tablets access the internet just fine when we are there, so there is service in the area, it's a mifi issue. See More
