Pro It's awesome to fly around the world at high speed
The sheer size of the world and your ability to traverse it at blistering speeds is what really gives the whole flying experience its superhero feeling. The whole flight mechanic just feels incredibly fluid and fun with an excellent sense of speed and scale. You fly incredibly fast, able to travel the world and hop from city to city at an incredible speed. It's captured incredibly well in game, as cities start as just a dot on the horizon, with more detail coming into focus as you approach. Before you know it, you'll be flying around the massive cityscape itself as you duck and dodge between buildings and skyscrapers.
Pro Exciting superhero abilities unlock as you progress
Each and every ability feels powerful, and most importantly, fun to use, giving you a great reason to keep pushing forward and collect them all. While you'll start out only with an energy blast and the ability to fly, you'll gain access to new and unique powers each time you save a city from waves of alien attackers. This includes a levitation ability, which is helpful for saving people falling off buildings, the ability to freeze time for several seconds to make an intense situation more bearable, a heat ray to bypass the armor of especially tough aliens, and a burrow ability that lets you dive underground to diffuse bombs and take out subsurface enemies.

A superhero is supposed to care about the safety of the people he or she is saving, and this game has a very unique way of driving that point home. Your health bar is directly tied into the safety of citizens. If you unintenionally kill or injure the innocent populace during the battles, you will lose health. It adds an interesting element where you'll always have to manage the controlled chaos of attacking the alien invaders without doing too much damage to the city itself. Accidentally toppling a building with a misfired shot will cost you your own health pool. When you're getting ready to unleash a devastating attack against that alien ship on a crowded road, you have to make sure there will be no collateral damage. All in all, this game does a great job at making you feel like a true superhero who is out to save the people.

Arkham Asylum gives the player a relatively large number of different gadgets to use for different combat purposes, such as ranged takedowns, cutting ropes, diverting enemies' attention, blasting through doors, traversing longer distances and hacking.

Con Ability cooldown is a bit too high
While you're given some downright awesome super powers, some of them have an incredibly high cooldown. This means you won't be able to use them as you often as you'd want, which makes it feel like a waiting game until you can unleash the next devastating attack.
Con Shallow gameplay
Overall, the gameplay is pretty generic. You use a variety of different superpowers to counter different alien types, but besides shooting at them or avoiding their attacks, there's not much depth or strategy to the combat. Over time, the simplistic nature of everything loses its appeal, and it seems the whole game was made to showcase the flying mechanic.
Con Repetitive
Megaton Rainfall mainly consists of saving a city, being awarded a new superpower, and then moving on to the next city. Each city looks just the like one before it. This cycle repeats for the entire duration of the game, which can be a turn off to some who would prefer a bit more variety.
Con Frustrating due to the targeting
Sometimes the enemies tend to move very quickly in very random ways. Being able to shoot them properly can sometimes feel like an exercise in luck rather than skill, especially since there is no lock on target feature.
Con Visually boring
The play area is huge, and in order to fill out massive cityscapes, many of the same graphic assets are reused and recycled for the duration of the game. You'll see a lot of the same buildings, cars, roads, and trees being used over and over. Every city will pretty much look exactly like the one before it, just rearranged slightly different.
Con Dark atmosphere
You won't realize how many shades of black exist until you've played an Arkham game. It's always dark outside, so to people who like daylight and colors in their games, this might get a bit dull after a while.
