Pros
Pro You need to work as a team instead of individuals
While most co-op games have you working individually towards a common goal, Guns of Icarus Online puts all your teammates on a flying ship, and you have to work together. Engineers (one of the roles) specialize in repairing your ship, and they might not see any direct combat action all game. Gunners are meant to man the guns (of course), but there may be times when they need to switch off and help the engineers repair the ship instead. Instead of all pointing your individual guns towards a common enemy, you need to all work together or your ship is going down.
Pro Easy point of entry for small groups or large parties
The matches are relatively short and offer great fun for small groups or large groups of friends on a quick pick-up-and-play basis. There is both built in voice chat and easy to access text chat for quick communication in the heat of the action. No time investment required to get into things but time invested does earn cool customizations. There is also an achievement system to entice variety in play as well as replay value.
Pro Visually stunning battlefields that use huge open-air environments
Battles are fought in massive open-air arenas which currently consist of a handful of different environments including post-apocalyptic debris-filled deserts, snowy mountaintops, foggy islands and ocean side views. All of these environments have one thing in common, they are absolutely stunning as far as visuals go.
Pro Virtually unlimited replayability
While there are certainly constants no matter what you choose - you are a crew member of a ship working to keep yourselves afloat while working towards an objective - there are tons of variables that make each interaction as unique as the last. There are multiple ships to choose from, and each feels unique. Ships can be further customized with different weapons and such, and there are multiple roles that need filling.
Cons
Con Solo play = pick-up groups
Nobody likes pugs ("pick-up groups" - groups formed by a bunch of individuals as opposed to a team). Of course you can make friends in the game and join clans to alleviate this problem. It's typically best to bring some friends along. The game really shines when playing with or against your friends.
